Between my time with UCCS and discovering Kirkwood, I was extremely fortunate to be approached by the director for NBA Basketball School Overseas to assist in running a few camps to help establish a basketball school in Kuwait City, Kuwait. It was an immediate yes for me. With my passport set to expire during the middle of my stay in the Middle East, I was tasked with getting an emergency renewal in less than 4 days. The only place that had an appointment available? Hawaii. Yeah, sure, I guess I'll take a side quest to Honolulu.
Culturally, this was an extremely impactful trip for me because it shattered all of my expectations. The Middle East is full of kind, caring people who work hard to provide a great life to their family just like us in the states. The food is impeccable. The generosity is astounding. If you can handle the heat, I recommend visiting in your lifetime.
