After my time spent in Kuwait during summer 2022, I found my next home in Kirkwood Community College. For the 2022-23 season with Head Coach Tim Sandquist at the helm, our team achieved an overall record of 25-7 (11-5 in ICCAC play) while remaining undefeated at home for the season (15-0). The Eagles advanced to the NJCAA Region XI Championship game, but felt short in overtime to the number 1 seed Iowa Lakes. Our team saw four players achieve All-Region honors (Noah King - 1st Team, Justin Recker - 1st Team, Cassius Brooks - 2nd Team, Ayouba Berthe - Honorable Mention) and 1 player, Noah King, earned NJCAA Second Team All-American honors.
Before my leaving for Eastern Kentucky University, our coaching staff worked relentlessly to piece together one of the greatest recruiting classes in Kirkwood Men's Basketball history. the 2023 recruiting class featured Traijan Sain, Lucas Lueth, James Spencer, and Colby Dolphin who would all go on to win the NJCAA DII National Championship for the 2024-2025 season.
While serving as Assistant Coach for the Men's Basketball Team at Kirkwood Community College, I also worked as the Marketing Liaison between the Marketing and Athletics Departments. As the Marketing Liaison, I spearheaded the marketing for the 2nd Annual Athletics Hall of Fame Event, and I coordinated the rebrand of the entire athletic department where we designed a new official logo, implemented a custom font, and produced a comprehensive branding package for every athletic team at the school.
